the new script you gave is not working because when i use it, i bet 40, and instead of subtracting by 40 it goes down to -40. i dont know what im doing wrong, because i am trying many wayt to fix it.

In fact that is good as well. You start with no money, bet $40 and it's -40
But of course then you have to say it's game over by eg. -$100 instead of 0
Do you think you can do that?
